usa- here i come!

on monday at 10am i'm going to be in the plane on my way to my new journey. a journey thats going to to take me through the usa. to be precise a greyhound trip through the usa from 27th, June till 17th, August and yes i'm doing it all by myself. my first stop will be ney york city! i am so excited. from there i'll drive to washington, chicago, millwaukee (i'll finally see my best friend again, yay!), oklahoma, flagstaff, las vegas ( yeah, baby!), california, toronto and then back to ney york. i've waited long for my next trip to finally start and now i can hardly control my happiness. here a few pictures of my last trip to new york in 2006, with my lovely mom.

ps. i probably won't be able to post as often as now, probably hardly. but i would appreciate it if you would still stay my reader. i will be back and would be overwealmed if you stay. :)

i miss this island so much right now. here are a few photographs that are somehow typical for my beautiful home. can u guess what island i'm talking about?

short copper hair.

today i went to the hair dresser. and i love going to my hairdresser. as soon as you enter, you feel like you're somewhere in the states. everyone speaks english, everyone is laughing and talking and someones always singing. it's like one big happy family.

i like what she did with my hair. it's not such a big difference but i like real short hair. ;)

karneval der kulturen.

i went to the "karneval der kulturen" for the first time yesterday. i was a bit skeptical, because there are always large crowds and i was afraid i might get stomped on.;) but i'm glad that this year i decided to see what it's like for myself. and i must say it was definatly worth it. it was spectacular, different cultures and people who represented them. it was simply something you have to see for yourself. something you have to breathe, hear and feel. you have to experience it with all your senses. there were so many different cultures, skin colours, hair styles, but everyone had one thing in common: a smile on their face.

memories.

whenever i think of my childhood my heart starts to cry. not because it was a horrible time, but because it was simply wonderful. while growing up i had the fortune of having a best friend that i could share everything with. worries, laughs, the last slice of cake- simply everything. she was like my sister. but when i moved away, we both grew up and changed. thats normal i suppose. but we both know that we are still there for each other, even though we are still far apart. we know that we each have a sister on the other side of the world. today is her birthday, so i decided to dedicate this post to her and all the memories, that i will cherish forever. happy birthday, marie. from kindergarten till now; and probably till we both stop breathing.

rum-bam-bam-bam.

a beautiful song, a beautiful island. but even paradise has it's shadow side. a lot of people forget this, because they associate jamaica or every other caribean island with beach, sunshine, clear blue sea and happy people. this is surely true to a certain extent, but this is only one side and as we know everything has two sides, like a coin. the other side shows the poverty and the high crime rates caused by the desperation a lot of people have. if you hardly have anything then you hardly have anything to loose and because of that people make wrong decisions. some do it in order to provide their families something to eat and a home, others do it because they simply want more. it's a cycle that will probably never decease. it will never decease because there are too many peple living in poverty and too little who are wealthy. and there is hardly anything inbetween. as long as this problem exists, there will be many more men down.

potsdamer platz. smack dab in the middle of berlin. a place to kick back and relax in the sunshine. or to get dressed, go wild and gamble. a bit of everything you want, or nothing. ;)
